Valor Christian has hired former University of Colorado basketball player Ronnie DeGray to head its boys basketball program.
DeGray is currently the CEO of the College Bound Elite Basketball Academy, a well-respected youth basketball club in Colorado. He’s also the sports coordinator for the City and County of Denver.
DeGray played with Billups at CU, where he was an All-Big-12 selection in 1998, then continued his career in Europe from 1998-2006 after graduating.
“The young men in our program will be blessed to have a man with the character, faith and basketball knowledge that coach Ronnie DeGray possesses,” Valor athletic director Rod Sherman said in a statement. “He has both played and coached at elite levels and will bring this experience into his daily role with our student-athletes.”
DeGray replaces Steve Rotello, who lead the Eagles to the final four last season. Rotello was coach for three seasons before leaving this offseason.
Valor Christian went 23-3 last season, and returns leading scorer Chase Foster.
